Rain, Rain

...Go away!  I need to mow, and I don't want to mow a swamp!  Plus I'm on call for work, and I really don't want to have to worry about that and getting ticketed for having grass that's too tall.  :(

Movie

Saw Hunger Games today - pretty good adaptation of the book.  Would have been better without the chatterboxes in the rows behind me.  Caught up on some of our shows after that, and that was it.

Still getting adjusted to the interrupted schedule.  This week is going to be....interesting.

Comics

Next Sat is Comic Book day, but today I added a bunch more to my collection.  That was about the exciting extent of my day :)

Chaos

I imagine that's what it's going to be like around here for a while, till the mother in law gets settled in for her visit.  I know MY routine is going to be in tatters :)

Sometimes TiVo is dumb

I set up a season pass to record Storage Wars - I've started to like that show - and it recorded a bunch on Tuesday...and deleted them.  A bunch more on Wednesday...and deleted them.  I noticed because my 'deleted items jumped up to like 66 items.  Fortunately, I could undelete them and watch them (which I did, but still.  Give me a chance to watch them before you delete them, TiVo!

Speed Demons

Why do people speed on the freeway?  Driving home from work today, I take both the freeway and a highway to avoid all the construction close to the house.  I drive between 0 and 5 above the speed limit, and yet I'm passed by people doing 15 or more above.  Why?  What's so important that they have to 'get there now'?

I've always wondered that, and haven't yet found an answer.

Movie

Went to see Wrath of the Titan after work today - pretty good.  Didn't see it in 3D.  Traditional D was good enough.

Came home and was going to play on the computer, but started feeling pretty ill, so I'm just going to lie down.  I hope this passes.  I have a lot of work to do tomorrow.

Welcome Back

...to the work week.  Had a really busy day at work, lots to do for a change.  After work, I came straight home, had tuna salad for dinner, talked to Dad for a little bit, then played LOTRO.  Watched various tv shows in the background - Storage Wars, Triple D, Iron Chef America.

Just a normal day.

On and Off Day

Slept in for a little bit, then played WoW for a while.  After we quit, I did some housework, then went outside and did some yard work.  Fed the squirrels and the birds, and spread the mulch that I bought yesterday.  Three bags wasn't quite enough to cover the whole section, so I probably need one more bag to finish off that batch.  Then I ran to the grocery store, got some dinner and bagels for breakfasts this week.

After I got home, I played LOTRO and watched the A-Team on tv.  Well, I tried to play - my laptop didn't really like the crowds in the game.  It kept freezing on me. So, when the movie was over, I came back to the main computer and played till bedtime.

Best Laid Plans

Slept in a little big, then ran to Menard's to get some cleaning supplies and some mulch for part of the yard.  Going to do it in phases, since the car can only hold 3 bags at a time.  Got out of Menard's and it was pouring, so... so much for that idea.  Thought I'd go visit a taco joint for lunch, but there was no parking, so no business for me today.  Then decided to visit the comic book store across town, but I made several wrong turns on the interstate (guess not fully awake), so I just gave up.  I stopped at Red Robin, had a burger, and came home.

I played several quests in DDO with my guild mate, and then spent a little time on LOTRO before heading to bed.

Friday at last

Had a good day at work, up until about 5 minutes before time to leave...then it kind of collapsed.  So, I was in a fairly poor mood when I went to the comic book store (a new "The Shadow" comic is out) and Barnes & Noble (picked up the newest Mission Impossible movie that we didn't get to see in the theater).  Ate a little pasta salad for dinner.  Still in a poor mood.

Watched an episode of Ancient Aliens, a couple episodes of triple-d, a few episodes of Good Eats (saving the one on herbs for the wife to watch), and played LOTRO for a while.  I have a lot of characters to cycle through all the quests :)  I did luck out and win a couple new crafting recipes.  Played right up till bedtime.  Mood check: still upset, but slightly less so.  Maybe a good night sleep will help (although the underlying problem will still be there Monday when I go back).

Rainy, Chilly, Dreary

Hard to believe it's spring, at least today.

The potluck at work was a hit - it was a taco bar, and there were plenty of different fillings to go around.  I got some work done on a project I'm working on, where the client finally approved some graphics for a website.

Since I had a big lunch, I had a small dinner and jumped right into LOTRO (still nothing on TV to watch!).  Did some more festival things, and broke down and 'bought' a horse from the in-game store.  One of my guys is a horse collector - it just kind of worked out that way.  Anyway, here he is on his new mount!

Spring is in the air

Literally - there were cottonwood seeds floating around today.

Work was pretty good - I got to work on a document that's needed updating for 6 years. Didn't feel like I was spinning my wheels, for the most part.

After work, swung by the store to pick up some goodies for a potluck tomorrow, and got some dinner at the deli while I was there.

After dinner, I played LOTRO again (more festival events - see below) and watched an old Restaraunt Impossible.

Tax Day

Actually, I filed our taxes last week.  However, I paid the federal taxes due today, and I got our state refund, too!  Too bad they didn't cancel each other out.

Caught up on the work I missed yesterday.  I did get interrupted when a friend brought in her baby to show off, tho :)

After dinner I played some more LOTRO.  No new episodes of anything on tv to watch, so I just played around.  I did manage to win a nifty new horse for one of my guys (one I don't play very often, of course!  can't win it on one of the guys I play all the time!)

Sick Day

Well, partial anyway. Woke up sick, went back to bed.  Got up later and looked outside - it was snowing.  Crazy.

I did work from home for a few hours in the afternoon - a couple of conference calls, and some research on a problem with a client's website.  So it wasn't a total loss.

I didn't have much for lunch or dinner.  I played LOTRO this afternoon evening - the 5th anniversary of the game started this week, and there's all kinds of activities in the game - fireworks contests, gift giving, horse races.  It goes on for the next couple weeks, so I'm going to be doing a lot of that - I have a lot of different characters I want to get some rewards for!

Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow and can catch up at work on the stuff I missed today.

Dark and Stormy Night

Slept in a little bit, then played DDO and WoW for a good portion of the day.

After dinner from Jimmy John's, I sat and watched the storm outside.  We're in a tornado watch for another few hours, and right now it's just raining.  It's supposed to be cold tomorrow, tho - 45!

Saturday

Ran to the bank, then to the post office, then got my hair cut, then Best Buy to get a cable to hook up my ancient laptop, then to Barnes & Noble to get a new book, then I took a short drive looking for a place for lunch...and didn't find anything.  Found more construction, though.

Watched last week's Iron Chef America, then Sucker Punch that I had saved since a long time back.  It was kind of hard to follow at first, and I'm not sure I liked the ending.

Played LOTRO for a while as well, and watched part of a documentary called "Get Lamp" which was about the old text based adventure games that I used to play so very long ago.  Couldn't finish it before having to go to bed.  Guess I'll finish it tomorrow!

Rainy Day

No tornados in the forecast, tho!

After work, spent a frustrating drive to the store - traffic and construction everywhere.  Picked up a couple things, and finally made it home.  Had a small dinner of some 'grocery store sushi' and played LOTRO.  Watched a couple Iron Chef Americas from years past, a few Good Eats episodes, and called it a night.

Have some errands to run tomorrow, too, so I probably won't sleep in too much.  A little, maybe :)

Hey, Fever!

Work today was half meetings, half work, so at least I got something done.  After work, I immediately mowed the back yard, and right as I was putting away the mower I started sneezing like crazy.  Joy.

Couple of sandwiches for dinner (PB&J), and played LOTRO while watching DDD and two Restaurant Impossible episode.

Then it was off to bed to prepare for another fun filled friday!

Panic Packing

That's what I call what the wife did tonight.  Going for 3 weeks to her mom's again, and spent most of the evening looking for this, that and the other.  I just tried to stay out of her way :)

Stopped by Auto Zone after work to pick up new headlights for her car, since one went out today.  They go out a lot in her car - this is like the 5th replacement set in less than 10 years.

Hurt my good knee getting out of my car today.  Ever try to limp when both knees hurt? If it wasn't so painful, it'd be funny.

Tomorrow I get to mow, since it's supposed to rain Fri/Sat.

Addams Family Day

Had meetings at work, as well as meetings about the meetings.  Did get a little bit of work done inbetween meetings.  Tomorrow has a 4 hour training session, followed by 2 hour long meetings.

When I got home we had spaghetti, and watched Lost Girl and Hawaii 5-0.  Afterwards, I played LOTRO for a little bit, while watching an episode of Ancient Aliens I hadn't seen before.

Then it was bed.

Work, dinner, tv, lotro, bed.

Rinse, lather, repeat.

Day of Rest

Slept in today.  Played LOTRO for a little in the morning, then went and did a little shopping at Menards.  Got a couple rugs for the porch, in front of the old couch and between the porch door and the house door.

Went and saw Mirror, Mirror at the theater.  It was a pretty funny movie - not laugh out loud, but several chuckle-worthy moments.  After that, we did a little shopping at Walmart, then came home, watched part of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang till the DVR wanted to record Iron Chef and CSI Miami.

I watched a DDD from Friday, played a little more LOTRO then went to bed.  She leaves again for Indiana Wednesday, so we're going ot be packing stuff for another trip over the next couple days.  Then it will be quiet around here for a while :)

In with the new

Picked up the couch this morning.  It started to drizzle while we were driving home, and the cover kept blowing off, so we ended up taking the backroads instead of the freeway.  Fortunately, it stopped drizzling and also fortunately a neighbor was shanghai'd into helping us get in the house.  I'm not sure how else we could have gotten it in....not by ourselves, that's for sure.

AFter we got the couch in, we returned the rental truck, then went and did a little shopping, even though we were really sore from the couch - it's a sleeper, and really heavy.  Picked up a couple new comics, a couple dvds, including the collector's edition of Casablanca.  We had lunch at Old Chicago, and came home.

I spent the rest of the day sick to my stomach.  Not sure if it was lunch, or what, but did not feel good at all.  We watched several shows while sitting on the new couch - The Finder, CSI NY, Restaraunt Stakeout, some cooking shows, a couple of episodes of storage wars and parking wars.  Instead of playing on the computer when she went to bed, I watched sunday's Iron Chef America, then bits of Shrek 2 and 3.  I finally felt well enough to go upstairs to bed.  Hopefully it'll pass and tomorrow will be a better day.  Hoping to go to the movies, since just about everything else will be closed.

Out with the old

After work, we moved the couch out from the living room to the porch, to make room for the new couch we're bringing home tomorrow (ok, new to us).  That took most of the evening.  We sat on the porch on the couch for a while, enjoying the cool night air.

After that, I played LOTRO for a while, and then went on to bed.  Early start tomorrow - have to rent a truck to go get the couch, and then move it in.  Both with a sore knee, shoulder, and elbow.  Tomorrow will be a long day...

Thursday

I'm tired, I hurt in all kinds of places.  I don't have much else for an update.  Sorry.

Long Day

It makes for a long day when you don't get much sleep the night before.  We had meetings again at work - these were focused on 'how to make our jobs better'.  Yeah.

After work, we decided to have pizza for dinner, so we ordered that, watched a Restarant Stakeout and a Fringe, then I played LOTRO for a bit and went to bed.

The usual

Busy day at work, lots of meetings, a bit of a panic session in the morning when one of our clients couldn't connect.

Had home made shepherd's pie for dinner.  Watched Lost Girl and another episode of Restaraunt Stakeout.  Fiddled with the dvd player and finally got the audio to play, so now it's fully replaced the one that wouldn't play.

Played LOTRO for a little bit and went to bed.

Welcome to Monday

The start of a new work week....same as the old work week.  Phones went down most of the way through the day, so I didn't get a lot of calls.  Still had people come to my desk a lot, though!

Junk guys came today, and cleaned out a good portion of the porch.  Our next task is to move our old, breaking couch to the porch, so we can bring in a new sleeper sofa this weekend.

I stopped by Best Buy and got a new dvd player.  I also bought the protection plan, since I'm tired of these things breaking on me.  Hopefully it won't break in the next two years.

Watched Bones during dinner, then I played LOTRO for a while, watching the last few parts of the documentary BBS that I ordered.  It's pretty interesting, if you remember the computer scene from the early 80's...which I obviously do :)

Bleh

Not feeling well today - might be the leftovers from Joe's.  They might have been cooked with shellfish or something

Did manage to move one of the dressers to the porch for the junk guys to pick up tomorrow.  Didn't mow, though. Maybe if it doesn't rain tomorrow.
