Got up not-early, visited the nearby Newport Creamery for breakfast. I had a short stack of blueberry pancakes, she had the cream cheese stuffed french toast.
Then we headed to downtown Providence, parked at the mall (a mega-mall), and went outside to see what we could see. Ugh, tho. It was hot and humid. We managed to visit the Oldest Baptist Church in America, and got close to the Biltmore before we ran out of steam and went back to the airconditioned mall. I found a comic book store in the mall, though they had more movies than comics. We ate a late lunch in the food court, a sandwich from a place called CheeseBoy - grilled cheese sandwiches. For dessert we had ice cream from a Ben and Jerry's store.
After that we just walked the mall a little, till my friend could come down via the bus, then we drove down to Warwick (pronounced war-rick, go figure) and visited Iggy's. The chowder was very good. The fish was fresh. Overall, it was a lot of food, and we sent our leftovers home with our friend, since there's no fridge in our room.
Tomorrow, we're going to the south side of the state, and drive along the shore, check out some lighthouses and beaches, and NOT do as much walking.
