Day Off

We had no schedule today - no events, nobody to see, nothing that we had to do.  We slept in, went to lunch with the MIL, then went up and saw Battleship.  We had dinner at Chik-fil-A, which I haven't had in forever.

We got back, I played LOTRO for while, then went to bed.  Tomorrow we see Big Toni for a visit, then we are hoping to go back up and see Men in Black 3.

Saturday is her class reunion, Sunday is both the family reunion, and the trip home.  Going to be a busy weekend after tomorrow!

Tourist Day

We met up with the newlyweds this morning, and took the long drive down south to Marengo Cave.Well, it wasn't really THAT long of a drive, probably about 90 minutes or so.  We chose the shorter of the tours, the 40 minute, 1/3 of a mile tour, because we're old and have bad knees.  Even so, we were wiped out by the end of the tour.

After we left the caves, we took a short trip further south, and had lunch at the Overlook cafe, which was overlooking the Ohio river, and where we could look right into Kentucky.  I had a hotbrown, but I didn't like the cheese sauce they put on it, so I just picked the turkey off.

After that, we decided to go ahead and come on back up.  We hung out at MIL's house, and then the wife's nephew, his wife, and their new baby came up and we sat in the hot tub for a while (well, not the baby, but the rest of us).  I played a little LOTRO, then called it a night.

A Decent Tuesday

Slept in, did laundry (that took a good long while), visited with the in-laws. We played Trailer Park Wars for a while.

Came back and prepped for bed. Tomorrow we're going to see some caves in southern Indiana.

18 year old day

Today we spent all day driving around finding the covered bridges of Putnam County (there are 9), and a bunch of the covered bridges of Parke county (there are over 30).  We didn't hit all of the Parke county ones - not enough time!

After that, we stopped for an ice cream treat, and that's when I found someone had dinged my fender in the hotel parking lot last night :(  Scraped all the white off, nice deep scratches.  Don't know if I can get some kind of car white out at the autoparts store or if I have to take it to the dealer, but still.

After we got back to the hotel, I played LOTRO for a while, then we went to bed.  Tomorrow is laundry day, and then games night at the MIL's house.

Race Day

Since that's what everyone is talking about around here, I thought I'd use that as my title :)

We watched a bit of the race, but most of the day was as at the sister-in-law's place, just the 'grown-ups'.  We looked at pictures from the wedding, on the laptop itself, since my video out is no longer working.

We had dinner at the truck stop, since the wife and mother in law like it.  We came back to the hotel, watched a bit of The Three Musketeers on HBO, and a replay of the race.  I played some LOTRO, although it's not as fun on the laptop, with slow response times, and broken keys.

Tomorrow we plan on driving around and looking at some of the covered bridges around.  We'll be taking pictures :)

Wedding Scorecard

My sister-in-law's daughter got married today.  It was a nice wedding - the wife sang a few songs, nobody tripped, nobody messed up the vows, nothing like that.  The reception afterwards was fun (music was kinda loud, but that's because the community center was too big for the amount of people there, which was probably less than 50).

Here's where the scorecard comes in.  My sister-in-law's name is Toni.  Her daughter's name is Toni.  Her daughter's new husband is named Anthony.  Her daughter's daughter Harley is now engaged to Tony.  So:

Sister in law - Big Toni
Niece in law - Little Toni
Niece in law's husband - Boy Tony (or maybe Groom Tony, at least today)
Niece in law's daughter's fiance - Boyfriend Tony, although a lot of us have taken to calling him Jimmy, for no other reason than there's too many Toni/Tony's in the bunch!

Thankfully, everything today was indoors, in air-conditioning, so we could enjoy the events.  I took a lot of video, and I'm going to try and edit it all together in a DVD as a wedding gift for them.

Tomorrow is bum around day.  We will probably go up to Big Toni's place for a cookout, but it's guaranteed I'll be indoors :)

Made it to Indiana just fine, only to land in one of the record breaking heat waves.  Great.  Heat index today was 95, tomorrow is supposed to be over 100.

Weather is supposed to cool down after the holiday weekend.  After the wedding and the cookouts and whatever else is going on.

At least it's not that hot at home, so my computer won't melt like last time this happened.

But still, hot makes me sickly.  We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Storms o' Plenty

Or...a Plethora of Storms.

Lots of wind, thunder, rain.  Good thing I'm not flying out tonight - I wouldn't be with all this weather.

Less than 24 hours before my vacation starts.  Going to be an interesting one, that's for sure!  Hope I can blog while I'm there.

Against the Grain

A Tuesday that wasn't terrible.  Work went ok, played some LOTRO when I got home, then watched a movie I had recorded a while back "I am Number Four".

Two more days till vacation!

Monday, May 21, 2012

Nothing exciting today. Worked on my document almost all day (got one section done!), got a haircut after work, so I can look beautiful for the wedding on Saturday, stopped by CVS to pick up some meds, came home, ate dinner, played LOTRO.

Oh, and listened to most of a decades old 'documentary' on YouTube about how we never landed on the moon, and there's no way we could have - they would have all died, and it was all fake anyway, yadda yadda yadda.  I gave up and went and watched some tv :)

Workin on the Weekend

It spritzed all day today.  Occasionally actually raining.  The sun came out about 7 pm, but I couldn't see the eclipse anyway.

Was at work from 8-11 today.  Would have left sooner, but apparently there's a difference between 'true' and 'false' that's not documented somewhere, so we spent about an hour trying to bring the websites up when we should have had that done in 5 minutes.

After that, I went to a comic book convention.  I managed to pick up a couple issues I was missing, and looked around at a lot of stuff.  Lots of comic books from the golden and silver ages (not what I'm collecting), quite a few artists, and a few people in costume...some not in comic costumes, though.

After I got home, I did some laundry and played WoW.  That was my whole exciting day. :)

Saturday, May 19, 2012

Got up 'early' for a Saturday, went to the UPS store to mail off something the wife forgot, and then played on the computer on and off most of the day.

About 7, some serious storms came through, with winds, rain, hail.  Some people lost power, but not here.

Tomorrow I get to go to work.  Hopefully I won't be there long!

Friday, May 18, 2012

Kinda rough starting the weekend feeling crappy.  Decent day at work, and I spent part of the night working on a slideshow presentation.

Started playing WoW, but then go to feeling well, yucky so I went to lay down on the couch for a while before going to bed.  Not tired yet, just ucky feeling.

Peace and Quiet

7 days of peace and quiet.  Work wasn't too bad.  I played WoW for a little bit after having some leftover pizza for dinner.  I watched a couple Restaurant Impossibles, then put in a hold for the mail for next week.

Tomorrow starts the weekend - very looking forward to that!

Packing is not fun

Especially when you're trying to pack half the house into a Honda Insight.

They leave tomorrow.  It's going to be quiet around here for a while...

Tuesday, May 15, 2012

Work wasn't awful, athough I did have that hourlong meeting during lunch that was really a waste of time.  I got more of my document done, so it felt like things were moving along.

Got home and got out the lawnmower.  Mowed, then used the weedwhacker, then used the shears to get some of the saplings in the alley.  Two hours later, most of the work was done, and I was exhausted.  We had BLTs for dinner (minus the L, actually), they watched Dancing with the Stars, and I played DDO on my new cleric, while watching/listening to Restaurant Impossible.

After that, it was bedtime.

Approaching Normalcy

Work went ok. Spent most of the day working on a document and actually felt like I got something done (don't tell my boss I liked doing it!)

Got home to some home made shepherd's pie, and worked on updating my food blog for several places we've gone this month.

Then I got to play LOTRO a little bit.  Now, it's time for bed.  Tomorrow, hopefully, more of the same, although I will probably slide in 'mowing the lawn' in there somewhere.

Duluth Day

Otherwise known as Mother's Day and/or Sunday. :)

Got up fairly early for a Sunday, and drove up to Duluth.  We took the 'back way' for a good portion of the trip up, so 1) we could see the scenery and small town America, and 2) we could avoid the construction on the freeway.  We stopped at a couple of places and took some scenery shots.

When we got to Duluth, we wanted to go the the Duluth Grill, but it was standing room only, and a line out the door, so we gave it a pass.  Instead, we headed to At Sara's Table Chester Creek Cafe (yes, that's the whole name).  Apparently they only serve brunch on the weekends, so we had breakfast.  I'll blog my experience probably tomorrow.

After brunch, we headed down to the harbor, and got there in time to watch a freighter come in.  I managed to record video of it, so sometime this week, I'll transfer it from the camera, edit and upload it for all to enjoy.

There was no real parking near the shops, so we passed on the shopping, and headed up to Two Harbors, again taking the scenic route.  Went to the lighthouse there, watched the birds for a while, and a freighter taking on ore (which is not as exciting as it sounds), and then headed back home.

We spent about 10 hours in the car (more or less), drove about 375 miles (more or less), and came home tired (no question there).  After we got home, I created a new blog for my DDO adventures, uploaded a couple entries, and decided to call it a night.

They go home Thursday, and things will be quiet around here for a week or so, till I head down there to join them.

Casino Day

After heading to the bank, we went to the casino today.  I walked out with twice what I walked in with, so that's always a good thing.  The wife, not so much - she lost everything she took in.

While we were there, we bought tickets to Jeff Dunham.  Tickets went on sale Thursday - by today, only the (semi) cheap, nosebleed seats were left.
After we got home, we watched the season finale of the Finder.  Tomorrow, it's off to the north, Duluth and other sites.

Friday, May 11, 2012

Quiet day at work, quiet day at home.  Nothing really exciting other than I need to buy a new desk chair, as I've busted one of the wheels.  Hard to roll around on the carpet with a busted wheel!

Normal Day

Got some work done at work, and didn't feel like it was a waste of time.  After work, we watched two episodes of the Finder and one of Person of Interest.

So, just a quiet day with work and catching up on tv.  Didn't do any gaming though.  Kinda miss it.

Wednesday, May 9, 2012

Got to see the Avengers today - it was a welcome break from the stuff at work.  Saw it on the UltraScreen in 3D, so other than the matinee price, we didn't save much.

After that, it was pretty much a bumaround day. Watched a couple of Person of Interests, and got ready for bed.

Wonder how messed up work will be tomorrow with me gone for a whole day :)

Taking a day

I'm taking tomorrow off.  I need a mental break from work - too much is changing all around me for me to be really that comfortable.  Taking a break will help me 'reset'.  Probably won't ever like change, but at least I'll have a small breather to get back in the groove of things.

Not Much Going On

Work, home, dinner, bed.  Wife and MIL watched dancing with the stars, I tried to play LOTRO, but I was just too tired to concentrate on much of anything.

Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.

Stormy Night, Cloudy Day

Storms in the middle of the night woke me up - apparently we got quite a lot of rain.  Today we went to the comic book store, and I got some more comics.  Some replacements, some just new ones I wanted, and a couple of the left over 'free ones from yesterday.  Most of the free ones were kids ones that I wasn't interested int.

Then we went to MoA, visited Barnes & Noble and some other stores.  We had Noodles for lunch, and by the the time we hit the stores we wanted, 'we' were tired, so no movies tonight.  Maybe we'll get lucky and go during the week.  Tomorrow, it's back to work, and more of the same old..stuff.

Comic Book Day

Too bad we couldn't even get to the comic book store - closest parking was at least 7 blocks away.  Guess everybody and their kid wanted free comics today.

We couldn't go to MoA - too many things going on, including the Vikings.  Went out to lunch (I'll blog about that later), and I developed a nasty headache, so we went home.

I vegged in front of the computer most of the day - played LOTRO, WoW, and DDO.  Went out to see the Super Moon...and all I got to see was clouds because it had rained most of the day.

0/2 today.  Maybe tomorrow will be better.

Pattern Interruptus

I hate it when my routine gets interrupted.  Going to bed at off hours, getting up at the 'wrong' time, not playing my just throws me out of sorts.

And I missed a blog entry.  My first unintentional break in blogging this year.

Only a couple more weeks.

A little warm

It got up over 80 today. That's too warm for me.

Most of my work day was in meetings.  Was going to play WoW after work with my friends, but they backed out, so I just played LOTRO till it was time for bed.

Tomorrow I get to go to the dentist.  Yay me!

Tuesday, May 1, 2012

There's a storm a brewin!

Should hit my area of town in about another half hour.  At least I managed to mow before it came.  I'm sore, but that's to be expected, since I don't work out all that much :)

Played LOTRO, watched some old Storage Wars episodes while the wife and mother-in-law watched Dancing with the Stars.

Have to go to bed early, because they're tired.  You know how that goes.
