Duluth Day

Otherwise known as Mother's Day and/or Sunday. :)

Got up fairly early for a Sunday, and drove up to Duluth.  We took the 'back way' for a good portion of the trip up, so 1) we could see the scenery and small town America, and 2) we could avoid the construction on the freeway.  We stopped at a couple of places and took some scenery shots.

When we got to Duluth, we wanted to go the the Duluth Grill, but it was standing room only, and a line out the door, so we gave it a pass.  Instead, we headed to At Sara's Table Chester Creek Cafe (yes, that's the whole name).  Apparently they only serve brunch on the weekends, so we had breakfast.  I'll blog my experience probably tomorrow.

After brunch, we headed down to the harbor, and got there in time to watch a freighter come in.  I managed to record video of it, so sometime this week, I'll transfer it from the camera, edit and upload it for all to enjoy.

There was no real parking near the shops, so we passed on the shopping, and headed up to Two Harbors, again taking the scenic route.  Went to the lighthouse there, watched the birds for a while, and a freighter taking on ore (which is not as exciting as it sounds), and then headed back home.

We spent about 10 hours in the car (more or less), drove about 375 miles (more or less), and came home tired (no question there).  After we got home, I created a new blog for my DDO adventures, uploaded a couple entries, and decided to call it a night.

They go home Thursday, and things will be quiet around here for a week or so, till I head down there to join them.
